Police are appealing for witnesses after robbers attempted to smash their way into an East Grinstead jewellers in broad daylight.
Four men on two motorcycles approached the East Grinstead Watch Company, at the High Street, at 2.40pm yesterday before attempting to smash the front window and then the door with a sledge hammer.
It was only when they couldn't get into the shop they fled the scene in the direction of Portland Road.
