A KITCHEN fire in Northgate broke out after items were left on the electric hob and the dials were accidentally turned on.
Two fire engines were sent to deal with the incident in Cobbles Crescent on Monday just after 1pm.
The occupants were out at the time but the property has been badly damaged by fire and smoke. It is not known exactly how the dials were turned on, but they may have been knocked before the occupants left the house.
