A DEER has had to be put down after being hit by a car in Copthorne.
A vet and emergency services were called to the A264 in Copthorne following the collision at about 5.35pm on Saturday.
Firefighters were called as a precaution but nobody was trapped in the car.
The male deer was badly injured and was put to sleep by the vet at the scene. Firefighters helped manage and clear the scene along with police and left at about 6.15pm.
