POLICE are asking for the public's help to work out how a handgun came to be in a wooded area in Crawley.
A member of the public found the gun in woodland close to Lundy Close, in Broadfield.
The weapon is an Automatic Victoria and was found together with a magazine and five live bullets, wrapped in a couple of bin bags.
Police do not know how the weapon came to be there.
It has not been revealed when the gun was found.
