A MAN was knocked unconscious and left in a pool of blood following an assault in Broadfield this afternoon.
The victim sustained a serious head wound and was found bleeding heavily on the ground at Broadfield Barton.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene at 1.27pm. The man has been taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.
Members of the public reported seeing several police cars and two ambulances and an alleyway had been taped off by police.
