A FAMILY-RUN firm has been fined £15,000 for illegally dumping tonnes of waste in East Grinstead.
Martell's was responsible for disposing of soil, concrete, metal cabling, plastics, treated wood, brick and other materials in a disused railway cutting behind its warehouse in Charlwoods Road.
The company insisted it was unaware of any foul play, and that its intentions were to construct an area for vehicles to park and turn on the busy industrial estate for the benefit of the community.
