ABOUT 70 metres of hedgerow has been set on fire by an arsonist, destroying almost half of it.
Firefighters battled for nearly three hours to get the blaze under control after the hedgerow was torched off Copthorne Common Road at about 1.45am this morning (Wednesday).
One fire crew was sent from Crawley Fire Station to deal with the incident. They used a hose reel and a Co2 extinguisher to tackle the fire.
They left the scene at 4.26am.
