A MAN and a child who were accused of stealing a Christmas tree worth £129 have had the case against them withdrawn. Perry Maughan, 43, of Honeysuckle Lane, Langley Green and an 11-year-old boy, who cannot be named because of his age, appeared at Crawley Magistrates' Court last Wednesday (May 21) charged with theft from a shop. BTP officers had been called to Crawley station at just after 2.50pm to reports of a man acting aggressively on a platform. The man then got on the 13.56 Bognor to Victoria Southern service that was then stopped at Three Bridges. A CONVICTED rapist and killer who absconded from a mental health unit has been recaptured after being found in Sussex. Samuel Lee, 44, failed to return from an authorised trip from the John Howard Centre in Hackney, east London, last Thursday. Lee receivedd a life sentence for raping a woman with cerebral palsy after snatching her from a park in north London in 2000.
