THE boy who was brutally attacked with a hammer on Broadfield Barton is not thought to have suffered long-term injuries.
The 14-year-old, who was attacked on the shopping parade last Wednesday night, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton for treatment.
Police have since said he was released later on the same day, so his injuries are not thought to have been as serious as first thought.

Resident finds "burglar" inside their home
A resident returned to their flat to find a suspected burglar inside.
Police were called to the address in Martyrs Avenue, Langley Green at about 10.05pm last Friday.
The informant returned home to find the unknown man inside the property.
A mobile phone was found in the man's bag and he was later charged with burglary with intent to steal and remanded in custody.

Police are appealing for witnesses after robbers attempted to smash their way into an East Grinstead jewellers in broad daylight.

The man charged with raping a woman in an East Grinstead graveyard will today appear at Hove Crown Court.
