A PRAYER book and communion set were stolen from a vehicle parked in the town centre. The crime was reported to Sussex Police on Friday but the theft, which also included a sat nav, is thought to have occurred between August 17 and 28. The vehicle had been left in Haslett Avenue West.

A FISH and aquarium stockist has been targeted in the latest in a series of burglaries at Crawley businesses. Maidenhead Aquatics, based at Squires Garden Centre on Horsham Road, Gossops Green, was broken into overnight between Friday and Saturday (September 4 and 5). ABOUT £1,000 has been stolen from from The Hawth after someone broke into the theatre at the weekend. The cash was stolen from a safe at the theatre on Hawth Avenue, Furnace Green at about midnight on Saturday morning. It is not known at this stage if they managed to open the safe without damaging it or if they used tools to cut it open. A similar theft occurred at Subway in Manor Royal last month where the culprit or culprits used an angle grinder to cut open a safe.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was stabbed in on Thursday at about 10pm following an argument close to the Old Punch Bowl pub. TWO bikes were stolen from a home in Three Bridges last weekend. Between 1pm on Saturday and 2.50pm on Sunday the lock was removed from a shed at a home in Dedisham Close. Two bikes, a green Pinnacle and a grey mountain bike, were taken. Anyone with information or who is offered the bikes for sale should call Sussex Police on 101.
